What is the difference between the ski materials colors?
There are 4 equipments levels which correspond to different ski levels. For instance: beginner skier = blue pack, good skier = black pack.
Where do I get my ski material rented through ski school website?
You will get your ski material rented through the ski school website at Spirit Sport shop attached to the ski school.
Are ski passes included with the course ?
No. You will be required to purchase ski passes from the cashier located nearby the ski school. Ski passes are free for children under the age of 6 years on presentation of proof of age (age requirement condition enforced by the Société des Montagnes de l’Arc). For ski classes you will be required to purchase a ski pass for ‘Massif Les Arcs – Peisey Vallandry’.
Is the hire of ski material included in the price for ski or snowboard courses ?
No, unless you are a beginner and you choose the option ’Ski Pack’ or ‘Snowboard Pack’.
Are ski monitors accredited?
Yes. In France, all ski instructors follow the same curriculum and receive the same diploma issued by the French Ministry of Youth and Sport.
Are children required to wear helmets?
It is not mandatory to wear helmets however it is strongly recommended for both adults and children.
What age can I start skiing?
We accept children from the age of 3 in classes adapted for their age. All students are trained by certified instructors.
My 4 year old child has already skied for one week, am I required to enrol him/her in the "introduction" ski course?
No. If your child has already skied for one week, he can be enrolled in the beginner group lesson for children 5 years or older.
I am a beginner, do I need to use ski poles?
Not necessarily. For children, ski poles are required only from level 1. For adults however, ski poles are required when starting from the beginner level.
We are staying at Arc 2000, what is the best way to get to the ski lessons at Arc 1950?
If you are a beginner, you can get to Arc 1950 using the Cabriolet (free cable-car which connects Arc 1950 and Arc 2000). The meeting point for the ski lessons is just a short walk from the Cabriolet. If you can already ski, the small run between Arc 2000 and Arc 1950 is a great way to warm you up! In both cases, it will take less than 5 minutes to get to the village.
In the case of bad weather, are the courses cancelled?
No, you are in the mountains! Make sure you bring the correct equipment: warm gloves, ski masks, etc.
If an accident occurs during my stay, is a refund provided for the ski classes?
No. We suggest that you take out specific insurance to cover you in this instance.
In which language are the classes given?
Group classes are generally given in language depending on the nationality of the students. For private lessons, we have instructors who can give lessons in a number of different languages, please enquire.
How do we recognise ski instructors?
Our instructors wear a blue uniform with the Spirit Arc 1950 logo on the back.
What is the maximum number of students for private lessons?
We take up to 5 students in private lessons. The price varies depending on the number of students in the course.
What is the maximum number of students in group courses?
Group lessons are limited to 10 students per group in order to maintain a high level of teaching quality.
Where is the meeting point for the ski lessons?
For group courses, classes will meet around the village centre, in front of the sign indicating the different levels.
For private courses, the meeting place is in front of the office of the ski school.
Is it possible to book group classes for three or four days?
Our group ski courses run for a period of 6 days. You are however more than welcome to contact our office and we will try our best to accommodate your needs.
The group classes start on Sunday, what shall I do if I arrive later than this?
We recommend that you visit our office in order to determine which group corresponds to your level.
If my child is sick or has an allergy, should I tell the instructor?
Yes. We prefer that the instructors have all the necessary information so that he or she can assist if there are any problems.
I have a problem and I need to cancel my vacation, however I have already paid for my course. Can I be reimbursed?
The general conditions of sale stipulate that in the case of cancellation more than one week before the start of the course, an amount of 30€ is retained as an administrative fee for your booking. If you cancel less than one week before the start of the course, no refund is possible.
What is Cariboo’s Club ?
Cariboo’s Club is a place for children more than 3 years old which offers fun activities during the day and also welcomes children for lunch. A ‘creche’, the Little Cariboo, is reserved for the little ones (9 months to 3 years).
